How the steers are made?

Our steers are a product of the Third Day Ranch top-ranked bull pen. Third Day Ranch operates a Registered Cattle business producing top-end genetics for reproduction and commercial use. Our seed-stock and commercial bulls are sold throughout the United States. The Herd Sires who are the cornerstone of our registered cattle business are also the cornerstone of our Third Day Beef program! Third Day Ranch has won numerous awards for its genetically sound cattle including most recently the #1 High Grading bull at the 2008 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!

Our strategy is to leverage the assets of Third Day Ranch, namely the stout herd sires who possess such incredible carcass qualities for the benefit of Third Day Beef. This gives our steer program a tremendous advantage as we have the ability to efficiently breed our cattle to top ranked bulls and produce carcass and gain traits that score much higher compared to typical feed yard commercial cattle.

And with this genetic power, we are able to influence every calf crop, producing stout, high-yielding steers. But we don’t stop there, we still apply scientific measurements to our steers to be sure of their quality by ultra-sounding every steer at yearling time in order to measure and record rib-eye size and intra-muscular fat. We believe we must continually measure our genetic inputs in order to predict the quality, volume and tenderness of every steer.

How the steers are raised?

These steers are bred at Third Day Ranch and are cared for by our staff from day one. Our ranch consists of over 1200 acres of Coastal Bermuda irrigated pastures.

Our facilities and equipment include some of the latest and safest equipment and technology and are probably ranked among the best found anywhere in the southern United States. This environment allows for us to raise the steers in a humane environment with very little stress.
